50 Cent
Rapper Curtis James Jackson III, popularly known by the stage name 50 Cent, is a native resident of Jamaica. Jackson rose to fame during the early part of the 21st century after signing with Eminem’s Shady Records label. Through the mentorship of Eminem and Dr. Dre, Jackson became an instant hit with the release of his first album-Get Rich or Die Tryin’. The award-winning hit maker has since released several other widely applauded albums, earning himself a spot on the list of top 100 rappers of the century. Jackson is currently enjoying a blossoming acting career which saw him assume a starring role in the recently concluded Power series.
Donald John Trump
Elected to the office of the President of the United States in 2016, Donald John Trump is another famous native resident of Jamaica. He grew up in the affluent Jamaica Estates section of the neighborhood where his father, an accomplished New York City real estate developer, owned a house.
For the better part of his adult life, Trump was the head of the Trump family business which he renamed to The Trump Organization after taking over as the president in 1971. He has since diversified and transformed The Trump Organization into a multibillion company. Prior to the 2016 presidential election, Trump’s political involvement remained minimal despite having expressed his interest to run for office during the 2000 presidential elections.
Nicki Minaj
Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, popularly known by the stage name Nicki Minaj, is a seasoned American rapper who is considered by many people as the greatest female rappers of all time. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Minaj moved to New York with her family at the age of 5 when her mother was admitted to the Monroe College. Just like 50 Cent, the ‘Super Bass’ hit maker was brought up in the South Jamaica section of Jamaica neighborhood. Before making her breakthrough in music, Minaj worked several low paying jobs including waitressing.
